New City, NY - County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef announced today that the Federal Emergency
Management agency (FEMA) will be opening a Disaster Recovery Center in Rockland County beginning
tomorrow to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy. The Disaster Recovery Center will be located at::

1 Provident Bank Park Drive
Pomona, NY 10970
The Disaster Recovery Center will be open Saturday November 10th from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Beginning
Sunday, November 11th the center will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 7 days a week until further notice.
“This is a great opportunity for Rockland residents to find out about disaster assistance from knowledgeable
FEMA personnel,” said Vanderhoef “Residents and business owners should not hesitate to request help with
registering for disaster assistance, filing insurance claims, or checking the status of an existing claim.
Unfortunately Hurricane Sandy devastated parts of our County and the victims of the storm should apply to get
the help they are entitled to from the Federal Government.”
Residents who apply for Federal assistance will be asked for the following information:

The address of damaged home or apartment
•
Names of people living in your household
•
A description of your disaster damages
•
Insurance information
•
Your Social Security Number
•
A telephone number where they can reach you or leave a message
•
An address where you can receive mail
•
If you want your disaster assistant funds sent directly to your bank, you will need to provide:
o
bank account type
o
account number
o
routing number
Residents are encouraged to visit the Disaster Recovery Center to file an application, check the status of their
application and discuss low interest loans for homeowners, renters, and businesses with the U.S. Small
Business Administration.
